Merced River

The Merced River Watershed is located in the central Sierra Nevada. The upper reaches of the Merced River are in Yosemite National Park and are unregulated. Many people visit the Merced River Watershed by going to Yosemite Valley. There is only 1 major hydroelectric project at New Exchequer Dam, which impounds 1 million acre-foot Lake McClure.
