The Cosumnes Watershed is located in the central Sierra Nevada. The Cosumnes Watershed is the only watershed in this study that does not have a terminal dam or any hydropower facilities. Although there are a handful of small diversion dams for irrigation, recreation, and storage, the unregulated watershed demonstrates a relatively natural flow regime which has led to creation of a natural stretch of river set aside for ecological research.
